  1. Collina released an interview in which, among other things, he stated that this time the best officials will fly to Russia, despite of confederations and nationality criteria. So, we could have some surprises. Less geopolitical choices, at least according to his words.
In addition, it is possible that further names will be added to VAR list on next months.

  2. As Clattenburg is still on the list, I think, it is quite possible to see him at the ConfedCup this summer.
But then it will be interesting, how they want to ensure, that he remains a high level during the next season. CL games and (UEFA) WC qualifiers?

Marrufo is the only VAR, who is not at the U20WC, so he should go to the ConfedCup, probably along with Geiger as main referee.

  3. The world cup needs Héber Lopes.

    1. The other 7 referees are from Cyprus (Masias), Lithuania, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Portugal.

    2. IMO:
      Lithuania Donatas Rumsas
      Austria Markus Hemeter
      Belgium Erik Lambrechts
      Denmark Mads Kristoffer-Kristoferssen
      Sweden Mohamed Al Hakim
      Portugal Joao Carlos Santos Capela
      Cyprus Demetrios Masias
      Greece Anastosis Papapetrou

    3. Surely not Capela. Too experienced referee not liked much by UEFA. Three possibilities: Fábio Veríssimo, João Pinheiro or Tiago Martins.

    4. I would suggest:

      LTU, Donatas RUMSAS (1988, 2016)
      AUS, Manuel SCHÜTTENGRUBER (1983, 2014)
      BEL, Nicholas LAFORGE (1986, 2015)
      DEN, Anders POULSON (1981, 2014)
      SWE, Bojan PANDZIC (1982, 2014)
      POR, Joao PINHEIRO (1988, 2016)
      CYP, Demetrios MASIAS (1981, 2015)
      GRE, Anastosis PAPAPETROU (1985, 2016)

Serbia - Bosnia on the last matchday (in Croatia) will need a strong referee, it seems almost unfair to put a Third Category or so into what this atmosphere could be.
